Axford is a very small village in the Kennet valley between hungerford and Marlborough. It consists of a few probably early 20th century houses which overlook the road that passes through the village, and a few earlier cottages on the other side. The river Kennet and a small tributary the Ax meander through low lying water meadows just to the south of the village.

Location map:

On the edge of the village the Church of St. Michael, built as a chapel of ease in 1856 and served from Ramsbury, is a plain rectangular building of banded brick and flint with a slate roof. It consists of a Nave and Chancel and a small vestry at the north-east corner and a covered south-west entrance porch. Unusually it has no bell.

Axford is about 3 miles east of Marlborough between Marlborough and Ramsbury.
