Englefield
Englefield is a small village mainly within the estate of Englefield House, It was built as a model village at the end of the 19th century. It comprises a single short road which ends with gates to the park and the private drive to Englefield House at the edge of the deer park.
Englefield House is an Elizabethan country house with a surrounding estate and the gardens are open to the public throughout the year on Mondays.
The Victorian parish church, St. Mark's, accessed long the private drive to Englefield House, incorporates many earlier features of a mostly 13th century building and has a nave dating from about 1190.
Englefield is about five miles west of Reading, just off the A340 Pangbourne to Theale road.
