Stockcross

Stockcross is a small village just north of the A4 and Benham Park, 1.5 miles west of Speen village, between the Rivers Lambourn and Kennet.

The parish church, St. John's, is a brick-built building dating from 1839. The church is adjacent to Stockcross House, a Grade II former rectory. Stockcross House has a 2 acre garden which was developed over the last 20 years with an emphasis on naturalistic planting, colour combinations and plant partnerships. The garden is open to the public under the National Gardens Sceme.

Benham Park or Benham Valence Manor was erected in 1775 under the direction of Henry Holland, in collaboration with his father-in-law, the great English landscape artist 'Capability' Brown. The building is Grade II* listed and park is Grade II listed.

Stockcross is on the B4000 (Ermin Street) just north of the A4 trunk road and about 3.5 miles north-west of Newbury.
